One class period
40 to 45 minutes, sized to fit a bell schedule.

A 45-minute literacy assembly for elementary schools, built for the children who have already decided that reading is not for them.
Somewhere around seven or eight, a group of children quietly decide that reading is work and not for them. Reading assemblies usually reach the ones already holding a book. This one is aimed squarely at the rest.
It works because magic and a good story are the same trick. Both set something up, both make you want to know what happens, and both pay off in a way you did not see coming. When a child feels that on stage, in a gym, out loud with everybody else, a book stops looking like homework.
Pair it with your book fair, your reading week, your Summer Reading kick-off, or the week before a testing push when everybody needs reminding why any of it is worth doing.
Every school that books this assembly gets a printable teacher guide written to go with it. Discussion questions, follow-up activities and a one-page take-home, so the message does not stop when the gym empties.
That is the difference between an assembly and an hour off. Your teachers can carry it into the classroom the same week, which is also what makes the time easy to justify.
Pairs naturally with a book fair or reading week. Tell me what you are running and I will point the show at it.
“We book Carroll for a show for our elementary school students! He was excellent! All the kids and adults absolutely loved him. He is very responsive to emails and makes sure you have all the details for the upcoming event. Would recommend and book again!”

“Carroll was very easy to work with and showed up early to be sure he could set up and start on time. He engaged with the audience and the kids were excited to be part of the show! It was a fun time for everyone!”

Larger schools split into two shows back to back (slightly higher fee), so every child gets a good view.
About thirty minutes to set up. I bring my own sound, so the back rows hear every word. Nobody on your staff has to run anything.
Built for elementary and adjusted on the day for the ages actually in front of me.
Your date, your grades and roughly how many students.
