One class period
40 to 45 minutes, sized to fit a bell schedule.

A 45-minute math assembly for elementary schools: patterns, problem solving and practical math, from the man who wrote the booklet of the same name.
Children who have decided they are bad at math are usually not bad at it. They have decided it is not for them, which is a different problem and a much harder one, because it is settled long before the work gets difficult.
This show gets underneath that. A prediction that could not possibly work, that does. A number somebody chose freely, sitting in a sealed envelope. Every one of them is a pattern doing the work, and when a child sees the pattern they have done real mathematics without once being asked to.
Nobody is put on the spot and nobody has to be right in front of the school. That matters enormously in this subject, because the children this show is for are exactly the ones who have learned to keep their hand down.
I wrote a booklet called Math-a-Magic. It teaches magic and gives teachers ideas for making math fun in their own classrooms. Book this assembly and it comes to your school as a PDF, a bonus for your teaching staff, alongside the teacher guide.
Worth being plain about why that matters. This is not a magician who also does a math show. It is the person who wrote the book on it, delivering it, and leaving it with your teachers afterward. Your staff can keep using it long after I have gone.
It is one of three books I have written. The others are a guide to restaurant magic for other professionals, and a guide to running school and camp magic classes of the kind I teach at Columbus Academy.
Every school that books this assembly gets a printable teacher guide written to go with it. Discussion questions, follow-up activities and a one-page take-home, so the message does not stop when the gym empties.
That is the difference between an assembly and an hour off. Your teachers can carry it into the classroom the same week, which is also what makes the time easy to justify.
On this assembly the guide arrives alongside the Math-a-Magic booklet, so your teachers get both.
“Carroll Baker came to Taylor Road Elementary and performed a magic show for the whole school during an assembly. Students and staff alike had a wonderful time and appreciated both his magic and his humor.”

“We loved having Mr. Baker at our school program. His magic show was astounding, age appropriate, silly, and entertaining. Our students were engaged and impressed!”

Larger schools split into two shows back to back (slightly higher fee), so every child gets a good view.
About thirty minutes to set up. I bring my own sound, so the back rows hear every word. Nobody on your staff has to run anything.
Built for elementary and adjusted on the day for the ages actually in front of me.
